Knysna Elephant Park
In 1994 they established as the first company in South Africa that looks after orphaned Elephants. With the famous Knysna Forest and the Elephants that roam these forests as the back drop for this activity all that was needed was the passion to make it all happen.
The park offers a number of different adventures and tours through which you get an opportunity to interact with these magnificent animals. It all starts in their introduction all where you get to see a museum exhibition layout showcasing the history of the African Elephants and how vulnerable they are. From there you go into a info and safety video just so all the house rules are understood. We then went into the sleeping quarters of the Elephants and we were also shown the guest house that is located above the elephants...this must be quite a unique experience to sleep so close to the elephants and hear they nightly sounds and movements.
A tractor and trailer then arrived and we climbed aboard to get driven to where we would get up close and personal with the elephants.
